Nick Koeck: Empowering Change Through UOW200 at iAccelerate

Nick Koeck, a driven double degree student in Business and Psychology at UOW, possesses a natural inclination towards entrepreneurship and a deep-seated passion for social impact. Growing up in Canberra with a brother who founded a successful cleaning business at 18, Nick was already familiar with the challenges and rewards of running a venture. His enrolment in UOW200 further fuelled his desire to create positive change in the world.

Nick's proactive spirit and desire to tackle real-world problems led him to UOW200, a course offered within the vibrant ecosystem of iAccelerate. The incubator's collaborative environment and focus on industry partnerships resonated with him, offering a platform to apply his knowledge and skills to pressing issues. The atmosphere of iAccelerate, with its open spaces and entrepreneurial energy, further inspired him and provided a platform to connect with like-minded individuals. 

The UOW200 Experience

UOW200 proved to be a transformative learning experience for Nick, aligning perfectly with his passion for social impact. Working alongside a team from diverse academic backgrounds, he tackled the complex issue of soft plastics, developing a comprehensive solution that included a striking social media campaign, educational content, and a bin feedback program, being inspired by successful practices in similar markets like New Zealand. Nick's team took a dynamic approach, researching and analysing existing solutions from around the world to adapt and implement the best practices for the Australian market, demonstrating the power of collaboration and learning from others. 

Future Aspirations

Empowered by his UOW200 experience, Nick is eager to apply his newfound skills and passion for social impact to future endeavours. He envisions a career where he can leverage his business acumen and psychological insights to create positive change in the world. The confidence and initiative he gained at iAccelerate have further solidified his determination to pursue his dreams and make a massive difference.
