iAccelerate and the UOW Alumni Relations Team hosted the 2019 Entrepreneurial Women’s Series Breakfast. This series aims to inspire a conversation within our communities about the innovation ecosystem.

This year’s breakfast featured guest speaker Robyn Jones, UOW alumna and Founder of social enterprise Mama Maya.

Meet Robyn Jones

Robyn Jones is a social entrepreneur, maternal health advocate and a passionate supporter of women starting businesses to make a positive change in the world.

Robyn spent 15 years working in advertising and media agencies advising brands, including Virgin Mobile, Optus and Woolworths, on how to communicate with their audiences.

Robyn founded social enterprise Mama Maya – ethically-made organic muslin baby swaddles, with every purchase funding birthing kits for women giving birth in remote areas of developing countries. In 2018 Mama Maya became a certified B Corporation, and in just under 3 years the business has funded clean birthing kits for over 7,000 women.

Since its inception in 2014, entrepreneurs have used these events to find inspiration in the stories of successful women, to discuss challenges and share lessons learned. While the breakfast focuses on women’s perspectives, it will appeal to men and women equally.
