The 2022 September cohort Activate Cohort is the largest since the launch of the iAccelerate Centre.  This cohort includes community start-ups, University of Wollongong Researchers and six PhD Candidates solving real-world problems.

Over the 3-month Active pre-accelerator program, we will work close with these companies as they take the ideas on the journey to minimal vial product and we look forward to sharing their journey with you.

DOSTUFF – MORGAN McCARTHY

For people who want to spend less time on their devices DoStuff is a platform that builds personalised categories and makes it easy to find and book device-less activities (DLA’s). Unlike search engines, social media and niche apps whose primary function is to maximise your attention and time ON your device, DoStuff wants to increase your “Good Health & Wellbeing” by constantly learning encourage you to spend more time OFF your devices.

EARTH WORTHY – JESSICA CLARK

Earth Worthy creates beautiful, sustainable and ethical bags that are custom branded for businesses and events to achieve social impact! Our customers care about people and the planet and want to show their customers the positive impact they are making. Unlike traditional promotional products Earth Worthy bags are both ethical and sustainable, being made by survivors of a garment factory collapse using sustainable jute that is completely plastic free.

ILLAWARRA WOMEN’S TRAUMA RECOVERY CENTRE – TRISH VAN LEEUWEN

For women who are victims-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence, an innovative and inspirational Australian first, the Illawarra Women’s Trauma Recovery Centre provides a ‘one stop wrap-around’ service of best practice mulita-sectoral recovery and healing support, in a feminist environment where women are safe, and can work towards their future with optimism and hope for as long as it takes.

We are empowering creators and artists to take back control of their content and their revenue. SONAR is a platform that delivers all content management and distribution under one banner and fives creators the reigns over their own monetisation.

For landowners who want to understand the development possibilities on their land and complete the approval and construction process with ease, The Housing Pipeline provides a holistic and simplified end-to-end journey.  Unlike competitors, our product focuses on simplifying and demystifying the process and connecting landowners to future tenants.

BREAST CANCER BRA SOLUTION – DEIDRE McGHEE

Finding a comfortable, supportive bra is a challenge following all types of breast cancer surgery because of the physical changes to their breasts, torso and shoulders. Breast support issues are quality-of-life issues. They are perceived to be the third highest barrier to physical activity. Many women are therefore less likely or unable to live the active lifestyle required to maximise long-term health and minimise cancer reoccurrence. Women need evidence-based guidelines on breast support, bra fit and breast prostheses. Breast Cancer Bra Solutions is a world-first, online education resource that will guide women how to independently choose a bra (and prosthesis), with sufficient breast support, that is comfortable and well-fitting.
