Planet Footprint Walks For Water!

In celebration of World Water Day, iAccelerate residents Planet Footprint hit the trails for a 10km hike in Wollongong to raise money for WaterAid’s Water Challenge 2017.
Lack of clean water and sanitation affects 2.3 billion people around the world. Around 315,000 children under-five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation. That’s 900 children per day. It’s a big problem and the team are taking concrete steps to solve it.
Planet Footprint raised money at iAccelerate through a cake stall, BBQ and walk to work clocking up 371,844 steps and raising $4,060 to date. With the money we raised from sponsorship of the ‘planeteer’ walkers and the cake stall they came third in WaterAids corporate sponsor’s fundraising race.
Through Planet Footprint’s support of WaterAid they have provided enough money to fund a clean safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene program for a community of 250 people that will last 10-20 years with minimal further investment to keep running. Planet Footprint’s goal is to provide clean water, sanitation and electricity to 50,000 people by 2020.
